Dr. Merica Esson
Founder/President/Sole Funder
Dr. Merica Esson was born in 1985 in Detroit, Michigan. She attended Baker College where she obtained an associate degree in marketing, a bachelor's degree in business management and finally a masters degree in marketing in 2007. She then went on to study psychology and educational leadership with a specialty in curriculum and instruction.
While in school, Merica had various careers from sales at General Motors to studying consumer behavior at a major grocery chain corporate office.
At 25, Merica resigned from Corporate America and started her own advertising agency and an online boutique. Both businesses earned her great success but still in search of her purpose, at 27 she answered her call to philanthropy and founded Healthy Synergy Nonprofit Corporation and later started the Merica Esson Foundation.
Today, mission work is the focus of her world. She feels helping those in need is part of her reason for being and finds much fulfillment in her philanthropy work. Having been raised primarily by her father in an inner-city neighborhood, she feels it is her due-diligence to give back to those in need.
Merica currently resides in the Michigan where she is developing inner-city programs and authoring her first book.
As Merica continues to journey through life learning lessons and continuously rediscovering her mission, her goal remains the same: aspiring to inspire.
